About the musicians:
Gigi Maclaughlin studied piano and accordion at Mario Mascarenhas’s school in the states of PE and PB.(Brazil) A lover of percussion, she learned by herself all Brazilian rhythms LIKE BOSSA NOVA, SAMBAS, MPB, FORRO, BAIAO, FREVOS and CHOROS on her REBOLO PERCUSSION. She also plays solos on her melodica instrument . She has been working with music in the USA for 30 years playing Brazilian Jazz. Her choro band has played at the Kennedy Center (Millennium Stage).
Brazilian pianist Isabella Perazzo has won several prizes in piano competitions all over Brazil, as well as in the U.S. She holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the University of Utah, where she received full scholarship as an international student. She has played Brazilian music with Gigi Maclaughlin several times at the Brazilian Embassy, as well as other venues in Washington-DC, Virginia and Michigan. They play regularly (every Friday and Saturday) at dLeña-DC.
